Motherhood is a journey as unique as you are, so it can often feel like you're doing it alone. Here at Colored Organics, we love to unite you, even if it's only virtually, to share some wisdom and camaraderie on the rollercoaster journey of parenting. We are so excited to share some insights on motherhood from California-based mama Jody!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF!

My name is Jody Chapman, I’m 38 years old, and I live in Ojai, California, with my husband and daughter Quinn. I love Pilates, going on coffee dates, and taking Quinn to the park. I was a fashion designer for many years while living in Los Angeles and worked for some of the top brands & stores like Nordstrom, Target, Wet Seal, Pac Sun, Tilly’s, Belk, and more. After nearly 15 years in fashion, my husband and I decided to take a leap of faith, quit our jobs, and travel to Southeast Asia, Central and South America. Upon returning to America, I started my branding and website design agency, Niche Design Consulting.

WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A PARENT?

The most rewarding part about being a parent is being able to provide the best life I can for her. I love being able to spend so much time with her as she grows up, and I love watching her sweet personality!

WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT PARENTHOOD?

The most surprising thing about parenthood is how I was able to survive off of little to no sleep in the early months as Quinn was a newborn.

WHAT DOES SELF-CARE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

Self-care for me is having some quiet time to myself to recharge, a Pilates class, a long shower, a facial, or simply enjoying a coffee.

WHAT CHORE WOULD YOU FOREVER OUTSOURCE?

Cleaning the house!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF COLORED ORGANICS?

I love the quality of Colored Organics and the sustainability factor. Quinn has sensitive skin, so soft and natural fabrics are very important to me.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO AN EXPECTING MAMA?

The advice I’d give to an expecting mama is to remember to breathe, take time for yourself and to not rush through life. You’ll never get your time back so be in the moment and enjoy it!
